Alexis Morgan
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, born Alexandra Patricia Morgan on July 2nd, 1989 is an American professional soccer player. She is striker for San Diego Wave FC in the National Women's Soccer League. This is the top female soccer league in the United States and also captains the United States women's national team. She was a co-captain of the United States women’s national soccer team from 2018 until 2020 along with Megan Rapinoe as well as Carli Lloyd. Morgan was selected by the Western New York Flash at the top of the list in the 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she had graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. Morgan made her debut as a professional in the club and played a key role in helping the team win the league title. Morgan was just 22 at the time, and was the youngest player on the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. Morgan scored the game-winning goal in the match against Canada in the 123rd minute of the semi-final game at the 2012 London Olympics. She finished 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman with 20 goals and 20 assists.
